Politico poll: Trump beats Warren by 6 points in 2020 match up
Sorry, not sorry, Fauxcahontas.
Elizabeth Warren allegedly rode something of a wave following her oh-so-nefarious "silencing" on the floor of the Senate. If the press was to be believed (they're not) the decision to shut Warren down was a vile act of misogyny, and breach of decorum, a Nazi-like violation of the 1st Amendment, and a bad political play all rolled into one. It was, we were told, a defining moment that would generate sympathy and catapult her toward the highest office in the land.
All of that is quite clearly insane.
Warren is still just as disreputable and dislikable as ever. Other than media talking heads, no one outside the beltway cared one bit about what happened. It's the kind of story that people in the political bubble latch onto but "real people" never notice.
Still, news wonks wondered if the exposure would give her a boost in popularity.
According to a new Politico poll, it did not.
But, in the fourth week of Trump’s presidency, a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll shows that Democrats could be in trouble — and Trump could triumph — if they continue their lurch to the left.
Despite the public’s increasing misgivings about Trump’s behavior and tactics in the White House, he still beats Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in a hypothetical matchup, 42 percent to 36 percent — a fairly impressive margin for a less-than-popular president against the prominent senator.
If you hear a shattering sound, it's probably hearts breaking at The Politico - an organization that clearly despises publishing its own poll results. Honestly, you can almost taste the tears in that write up.
The fact is; Warren is almost certainly a non-starter. Much like Hillary, the more she opens her mouth, exposes her beliefs, and outlines her policy positions, the less popular she's going to get. Her numbers here are probably near her ceiling.
Yes, the Dems' bench is shallow, but they have to have someone better than Fauxcahontas, don't they?
