Hillary says she's 'ready to come out of the woods.' Woods breathe a heavy sigh of relief.
In what can only be described as an act of mercy aimed at America's forests, Hillary Clinton has announced that she is ready to leave their lovely, dark, and deep confines. The former first lady candidate has managed to pull the shattered remnants of her hopes, dreams, and aspirations together - and her self-imposed exile is at an end. Sadly, the woods' gain is our loss.
If her comments this weekend are any indication, we can expect to see a lot more of the world's worst presidential candidate in the months to come.
Specifically, Hillary told a Scranton PA women's group that she had a hard time watching the news, and indicated that she might be ready to get back into the game...
Hillary Clinton said she was “ready to come out of the woods” during a St. Patrick’s Day speech on Friday night in Pennsylvania in front of an overflow crowd — an indication that she plans to shed the low profile she has kept since the election.
Mrs. Clinton, the presidential candidate and a former secretary of state, made the comments at the end of a nearly 20-minute talk she gave at a yearly St. Patrick’s Day celebration held by a women’s group in Scranton — in the northeast corner of a battleground state that made for one of her most surprising electoral losses in November.
“I’m like a lot of my friends right now. I have a hard time watching the news, I’ll confess,” she said, according to a video of the event. “I am ready to come out of the woods and to help shine a light on what is already happening around kitchen tables, at dinners like this.”
If I were a betting man, I'd put money on this being an early indicator that rumors of Hillary seeking a TV show were true. You'll recall that, back in January, author Ed Klein wrote that Mrs. Clinton felt a TV show would help set her up for a 2020 run:
“She’s utterly determined not to fade into the background. She intends to stay in the limelight and keep fighting the good fight. She knows Obama is going to be out there fighting too. But frankly, she doesn’t think he’s a great leader or a great fighter, which leaves an opening for her to be the acknowledged leader-in-exile of her party.
“She thinks being the host of a popular TV show would energize the Democratic Party base and her tens of millions of fans. It’s a way to make a comeback and position herself for another run at the White House starting in a year or so.”
If there's one thing we know about Hillary, it's that she's a complete natural in front of the cameras, am I right?
Sarcasm aside, I'm sure there's a network out there eager to give her a prime-time slot. ...Perhaps one who's evening anchor had just embarrassed herself with an obnoxious tax return story. Hillary would probably enjoy a few months of solid ratings as the faithful would have something to look forward to. That, like her political fortunes, would wane when people realized how unpleasant she is, but it makes sense from a certain point of view.
For now, just know that Hillary is leaving the woods. It's safe to hike once more.
